(note to y'all...tay sent me a CD this week- i'm anxious to get his pics up but need a bit of time to look into what i want to do... i've been looking into blurb.com- i believe that they can take your blog and turn it into a book- such as i have made with my photos. i've also been told that if you import the pics in their format, it will take you photos as well... so anyway- soon and love you!)
Hey Mom,
Glad to hear that you are doing well and that you got all the stuff that i sent you.
it sure has been interesting with a newer companion as opposed to having E Murley who is going home really soon. did i tell you that he is in the ward that President Brady attends? and he is training the other Elder in the picture.
im really glad that you were able to find swadhi and her family.
about that book-- i was just wondering the other day about the church history where i am from. i was thinking that i really dont know anything about it at all. so that will be fun to read.
so about the pictures---- the painted space is an eagle scout project that we got to help with a couple weeks ago. E Murley and i painted Saturn.
by the way i got to sign my boy's life thing at a member's home when they found out that i was in it. it was so funny.
sis gardner as you said is very hip.
my accident and the bike ramp were different days although you would think they were the same, right? but no.
the family with 3 sons are the harris's. sis harris cuts our hair when we need haircuts and is one of our favorite families.
investigators are good. we have enough teaching appointments now that it is becoming difficult to coordinate them. we spend all evening usually rushed between them and this thurs we will actually have to split up to make all of them.
so we had an exciting experience last week. remember that i said that we met a man named laregues? when we met him we were just walking around this condeminium and he was sitting in his car. he was polite but didnt seem too interested. when we were about to leave we asked if he needed help with anything and he kind of jokingly said that he was moving in on friday to one of the condos. so we told him that we would love nothing more than to help him of course. he accepted a little bit surprised and we figured out when exactly to be where and then he opened up with us. he pulled a book out of his car on the Holy Ghost and we talked for quite a while about it and the Restoration of the Gospel. then we helped him move in last friday and left to go have lunch and Laregues called us up and wanted to have us teach him a lesson right then. it was so cool. on his own he had come up with conclusions from the Bible that were exactly like what we teach people. this guy is golden. we even got him to a fireside on sunday (which is usually impossible to get people to) and he really enjoyed it. and this all came from service. so we now have an awesome investigator just from "going about doing good" as the Preach My Gospel would put it.
Megan is doing well too. she went to the fireside as well. she really enjoyed it and it was a huge step for her to go to church. the fireside was about family and that is her favorite part about our gospel. she was tearing up during parts of it which she has never done before. we were going to give her a baptismal date but she had to work yesterday which is when our lesson would have been.
we were able to see Satan's hand yesterday as Megan who we were giving a date was impossibly busy when she never is and we were going to give Gil a date and he was terribly sick. Gil is doing really well too by the way. also Larry Gomez is ready for a date this week which we will give wed assuming our lesson happens. pray for them. this could be a make or break week with all of them.
we have been really happy and really blessed all week. i have been learning more in the scriptures than i ever thought that there could be in there. reading King Benjamin's address was amazing which i have read before but never understood the 4th chapter like i was able to this week.
could you get me some more motab? or hymn arrangements or things like that? elder haupt's and my collection are pretty weak.
if i have time i'll send comments back. Love you guys. have fun in utah!
Love your favorite missionary,
Elder Taylor Barron
don't stop reading...comments below:Hey Grandpa and Grandma,
it sure has been fun with a newer companion. also sometimes funny. we have both been used to an older missionary that would take over in difficult situations but it is up to us now to resolve those. most of those are in parking lots. but it has been fun. we have found lots of people to teach and we are starting to be able to mesh teaching styles really well.
Hey Dani,
i have your kids pictures and letters that they sent me before in my study journal with all the other things i have gotten in the mail from cousins. when i was in the mtc Elder Holland said something that has really stuck with me. He said that when you are out in the mission field, try to become the missionary that your little brothers and sisters and cousins think that you are. those letters are a constant reminder to me of what i am out here to do. thanks for having them write me.
Love your favorite missionary,
Elder Taylor Barron

I love your story about how service really can open up opportunities to share the gospel. I think that is something applicable to our lives as well (those of us who are not on missions). I have also learned that service softens people's hearts and can help solve many other problems. You are doing a great job! We will pray for you and your investigators. We love you.
Elder Barron, my favorite missionary for sure, always love to read about your experiences. How is your "gratitude" journal coming that you wrote about a few weeks ago? I think that's a great idea as it tends to focus on the blessings you are receiving everyday from the Lord.
I'm so glad to hear that you are doing so much teaching, what a blessing that is for you and your companion. I know that it comes in part at least from the faith you have shown through your hard work and dedication.
Love you. And we're so proud of you.
Gotta love the "golden investigators"! I'm excited to see where that all leads to. We'll keep your investigators in our prayers.
Thank you so much for sharing what Elder Holland said and about how you carry the letters. It meant a lot to my kids to hear about it. They really do look up to you so much.
At church today, a lady in my ward shared some of her conversion story (she is from France) and also some of her missionary experiences that she had while serving her mission. I couldn't help but get emotional as the spirit once again confirmed to me the importance of missionary work. You are doing a great thing!! Keep it up! We love you!
Dani
Hey Elder, We love having your Mom here! We had a great dinner today with Grandpa Stan and Charlotte over to visit with her also. I showed them your blog that your Mom does. They don't know how to use computers so unfortunately they are unable to keep up much. Tomorrow morning we are going to Moab so your Mom and Grandpa Ron can climb mountains and take pictures. While they are watching the sunrise, I'll still be sleeping! :-)
I love love love hearing about all of your experiences. You certainly don't seem to have any trouble finding people to teach. That is great. We pray for your continued success. We know that you and your new companion will do well together. You are changing lives. That is huge! I know Heavenly Father is pleased with you and is taking care of you. Love you tons! Grandma Sue
