Hey Mom,its been a pretty good week.

i havent had any experiences where the members wanted me to do something really crazy. (i have a friend whose son was offered skydiving on his p-day in an idaho mission- so i asked tay if he had any funny situations like that) lots of them want to give us money and lots of nonmembers want to take us to the beach or have us watch movies but thats about it. when i talk to nonmembers i try to leave the impression that we would be following those type of rules whether we had them or not because we are busy teaching. which mission in idaho? its funny i feel like i know at least three Elders serving in boise.

sounds exciting about going to school. im sure you will be great at it. half of teaching in my opinion is being able to read who you are teaching which you deffinately know how to do.

can you call the mission office when my liscence is cleared and let them know about it? President Brady asked me about it again in my last interview.

i wish i could go to an interfaith council. that sounds awesome. glad that em had fun at the idol concert? who was singing?

We had some more awesome lessons with henry. he is excited to go to church on the 9th and he is still really fun to visit. what we have been trying to do with him because he is so hungry for it is find ways to have him teach us things. we do this by having him talk about the things that we have him read and by asking him questions about scriptures and asking him to draw conclusions before we paint the pictures for him. its going really well. the last two weeks we have prolly seen him 8 times. he is always taking open ended questions sincerely and his opinions are what the truth is so he bears testimony every time we teach him. all we do for lesson plans is find scripture chains and plan questions to ask him. when he does bear his testimony the Spirit is really powerful. we are going to try to move his date up to the 15th of august because he is really ready.

chris er** is pulling back again. i think he is slightly autistic. he can only focus on one thing and through his crisis right now of not having a job he isnt turning to God. we tried to let him see God's plan for him in all this but Chris was unable or unwilling to. he hasnt told us to go away but he isnt learning from his trials or thinking about what the Lord wants for him.

chris el** is trying to get that girlfriend of his to marry him but i dont think she will. we went over last night and they were doing some yelling. he is probably going to have to choose baptism or her. we read a chapter with him from the Book of Mormon almost every day to give him strength and direction. he is a good guy.

have a few more new investigators this week. i feel like we have been led by the Spirit alot this week. it seems like everywhere we go there has been something for us to do there. we went to see this less active family on saturday at a time when they usually dont expect us because bishop told us to see them this week and it turned out that they were just leaving to put their dog down. we were able to be there to give them comfort. the wife called us later and said that she knows we were led by the Spirit and that isnt the type of thing she usually says. she is very negative usually.

we also tracted this street that morning and were finishing it just as this older couple was walking in to their house. they invited us in and we got to share the Restoration message with them but they were pretty upset about Joseph Smith. before we shared about him they said themselves that a restoration was necessary and that there was apostasy.

we also did a checkback at just the right time on a potential investigator who we were able to teach because a member family forgot about an appointment that we had with them.

it has been a really fun week. our investigators are making their choices and it has been interesting.

Hey Mom, i got your package a few days ago. glad i remembered to tell you. thank you for the pics and stuff. where did you find all red starbursts? we have to stock up.

the pics were great. how did you get those kids to do the football shot? great colors and stuff. i cant believe the color that is in those shots. they are really clear and stand out.

we also realized that Elder Gibbons family was at the balloon parade as well.

it was also kind of weird to see pictures of me. Elder Gibbons thought they were funny. he also likes the card you sent. it was interesting to look and say, yeah thats me.

thank you, Mom.

ps i just checked the message i am sending to grandma and grandpa and i almost left hawaii when i meant to say alaska. if you ever notice those errors in what i send, feel free to fix them.

Grandma and Grandpa: sounds like you guys are having fun in alaska. i imagine it is really pretty out there like you say and that you are taking all the pictures that you want to. i didnt know that the glaciers actually turned blue. sounds really exciting, hope to hear from you later.

love you guys, talk to you next week.

Love your favorite missionary,Elder Taylor Barron

Sounds like you've enjoyed another amazing week---following the Spirit and being where you were most needed when you needed to be there. What a terrific thing it is that the Lord trusts us to do these things for him.
We're having a great time here in Alaska. We've only got one full day left and we're trying to pack it full. We went flying yesterday up around Mt Mckinley, it was really amazing. HUGE. EMENSE. The mountains, the glaciers, the size of the sheer cliffs as they rose straight up---higher by far than we were flying. We had to look up at them as were were weaving our way up the river of ice below.
Wow! Well, anyway, it was quite an experience. Today we went jet boating up the Susitna river to a narrow canyon where the rapids were really boiling. Only two people have ever gone further up the canyon and through the rapids than we went today. Quite a thrill.
We've had a great time.
I'm thinking, however, Elder, that you're having the most amazing experiences of all.
Love ya'
Grandpa

Hi Elder! Well we got back home yesterday. Was a long trip but really enjoyed it all. This is a busy time. We are leaving again. By the time you read this, I will be in North Carolina and Grandpa will be on his way to Hawaii to work at BYU Hawaii.

I'm going to North Carolina to visit the friends who all came out here to see me and also to visit some of my mom's family. It's always a nice opportunity to do some missionary work of my own. :-) I have my Book of Mormons already packed so I won't be without!

I love reading about your experiences. Even if some of your people do not join, they will not forget what you are teaching them and your testimony. They may come around later. It's always hard to believe how long I had to wait in order to get permission to be baptized.

This past week my parents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. That's pretty amazing isn't it! In this world, that is a pretty rare thing.

Well, I need to get busy since we don't have much time here at home before we go again. We were just talking about how you have been out nearly 9 months. You are doing so well. Take care and we'll be back in touch next week! Love ya. Grandma Sue

Interesting about that couple you taught who you taught about the restoration to. Is that a couple you will follow up with, or do people like that generally not want to hear any more about the gospel?
We really enjoy reading your letters. Keep up all your hard work. We love you!
