86- new comp, same area :)

Hey Mom,

before i forget "OC" is orange county. also, Elder Marsh is from New Jersey and he goes home today. ill be staying here, they gray's prolly did the facebook for me when they went to check for Elder Marsh. it is a sad time, we havent really talked much about him going home except when members and others bring it up. he has worked really hard to the end and i hope that i can finish my mission as gracefully as he has. he didnt want to do any packing or figuring out home stuff during his last proselyting time. it's kinda scary that one day your number is up and there is nothing that you can do about it. that has been my realization more than anything else.

this email will be kinda short. i just found out yesterday that i will have to do 9+ 24 hour exchanges next transfer. when i found out, i was pretty ticked. i dont like leaving area or doing exchanges very much. i understand why i need to do them but honestly i am worn out on doing exhanges and giving trainings to other missionaries and doing paperwork for transfers and having to worry about other areas. i wish i could just focus on our area here.

so Elder Marsh left the area on a high note and this email will be brief because we have to drive down to transfers today. the duke's have decided to pay tithing should they have to miss the electic bill and read scriptures by candlelight. (a quote from sis Duke). they are excited to be baptized august 7th with the gray's. the gray's are also doing great and talk about thier baptism like it is a done deal. i think the duke's are the most corageous people i have ever met and the gray's are the most prepared i have ever met. we have been over all the major difficult commandments with them and they are ready and prepared to live them.

aislin (apparently how you spell ashlynn in ireland) is ready to be baptized on july 31. she is nervous about the interview but she bore testimony of the blessings of the restored gospel with her husband kolu yesterday and it was a great experience. kolu kept telling Elder Marsh, "you will never know what you have done for this family." we have done a lot of hard work in the vineyard and we look forward to harvesting soon. all the families talk about thier future sealings with great anticipation.

Grandma and Grandpa:
that is exciting that your friends returned from thier missions! President and Sister Cook are adjusting very well and it is great to see thier excitement mingled with a little nervousness. thier courage has helped them do very well to start and i am sure that they will take this mission to an even higher standard of excellence and success. it has been really interesting to see two very different and both "right" styles of working with others. i hope that i will be able to take a bit of both.

Uncle Ryan:

i have really enjoyed this phase of my mission. it seems that i am being blessed left and right. i feel really lucky to be here and working with those that i have the opportunity to teach and serve. i hope that everyone in the fam is still doing well! tell whitney congrats for getting into byu for me.

Love,

Elder Barron
