84 and on FIRE!

Hey Mom,

sounds like you are having fun in utah. i cant wait to see the kids again one of these days. im sure there are big changes in the fam in two years.

thanks for the package, i got it yesterday. i like that shirt i got and that card, when you open the card up it starts playing jams.

this week was another good one. yesterday we started teaching the gray family. sister gray is the sister of sister duke and the gray's are really excited to learn. we taught them the restoration and it was really powerful. when we shared the first vision in joseph's words we told them that they would feel the Spirit and described how the influence of the Spirit feels. Elder Marsh shared it this time and the Sprit was very powerful. we asked them how they felt and they both said that they felt warm tingling all over. they said that they are not prepared to commit to baptism yet, but i get the feel that the commitment from them wont take long. we will see them again tommorow. the duke's are doing good as well but have not commited to pay tithing yet. our plan is to talk to just bro and sis duke privately and ask them about the situation and how long they feel it would be before they would be able to pay tithing. hopefully we can get them to take the leap of faith but if worse comes to worse we might baptize zack before his parents.

the kohumoku's are doing great as well! we had a lesson on baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost on saturday. we invited them to be baptized again and ashling said yes! she commited to july 31st. hannah said that she still needs more time. after ashling commited, she had a really powerful manifestation of the Spirit telling her that she had done the right thing. it was an absolute miracle. we didnt even say anything, she just had that experience. she has been to Church 3 times now and we just need her to commit to always have sundays off and always keep the word of wisdom.

beverly has backed off a bit because she doesnt want to be different religions than her husband but she is continuing to read and pray and meet with us.

things are really picking up, we are going for 8+ inv's at Church this week. Elder Marsh and i are on top of the world with how things are going, we are going to baptize an extended family. it feels good to be done with exchanges and paperwork and just getting out there.

we meet President and Sister Cook thursday at zl council and have personal interviews friday morning so ill let you know how the transition is. my guess is that President Cook wont change much at first because for the most part we are an obedient mission. i might not see many changes.

just checked out the pics, thats steve young right? ill be embarrased if im wrong. how did you work that out?

hope you enjoy the rest of your time in UT!

Grandma and Grandpa:

sounds like everyone is really busy! we are really excited with how things are going. i get in some excercise but not too too much. we are supposed to run some every day but it isnt enought to make much difference in my opinion. i dont feel nearly as tired as i did last week, i just feel excited to be able to put so much time into the area again.

Love,

Elder Barron

Hi Elder! So good to see your excitement and energy! Hope all turns out well with your investigators. Nice that you are mostly teaching families.

Yes, we have had a great time with your Mom here. I hate to see her go home on Tuesday. We have enjoyed doing things together and especially the 4th of July stuff. There have been a lot of family activities too.

Everyone here is well and happy. Summer is always a more relaxing peaceful time and of course, we love the weather!

Just in case you don't know, your last email was number 84. The time has gone by so fast! You are having such a good mission experience. Your Mom and I talked to a couple of Elders this morning who don't seem to be doing so well. I hope they can get some help.

Well, I better go. We are getting ready to drive up the canyon and take some photos this afternoon. We love you and always pray for success in your teachings. Take care of yourself!
Love, Grandma

What a wonderful period of time this is for you in the mission field; great teaching experiences, wonderful people to teach, terrific companion to share all of this with, and all of your preparation paying off all these months in aces. Your patience, your reliance of the Lord, your continual reliance of the Holy Ghost to guide and teach you, your obedience to the mission rules---all now coming to fruition at this point in your mission. What a great blessing for you. I'm sure you will treasure these experiences all of your life, and you will impact the lives of the people you are teaching for the eternities. Amazing when you think about it isn't it. Eternity is a long time, and you will have played a role in helping to change their course in all of their eternities---one that, if they are true to the gospel you are introducing them to, will lead them back to an eternal presence with their Father in Heaven. Wow. What a blessing for them and for you for helping it to happen. As Joseph said, how can we not go on in so great a cause?

As to the everyday kinds of things here at home we love having your Mom here with us. We're having a great July 4th with her. We went to the Stadium of Fire last night. It was terrific. Very inspiring, uplifting, and entertaining too! Carrie Underwood was the featured entertainer and she was very good and the grandkids loved it. It was a stadium full of sing-a-long with Carrie night. My biggest kick came from watching the grandkids enjoying it so much. But they also learn something about patriotism and a love of country by going to these kind of activities and that means a lot to me too.
Well, you haven’t got all day to read my ramblings on so just know that you’re loved. We’re excited about the teaching opportunities you’re having and hope they are all fruitful in every way possible.

Hey Elder! Glad to hear the work is going so well and you are so happy doing it. 8 investigators at church is big!

We're doing well here. It is July 4 today. usually, we'd be doing the parade and a picnic os something. Today is a little different. We had to take our girls to dance classes today, so missed the parade. We're on our way next to see a movie with Aunt Rhonda. Karate Kid - Should be fun. We just got from St. George yesterday. On Saturday, we saw the traveling musical Tarzan. It was very well done. Whitney will be starting BYU in the fall. She will be living on campus. We miss her already! Other kids are busy enjoying summer and getting bigger. Take care and be safe!
