66

on wednesday i got your package and thank you. we needed some candy. Elder Miller says thank you as well for "supporting our cause."

so we had still a rough week this time but there is light at the end of the tunnel. you will be happy to hear that we picked Skip back up and taught her yesterday. you would love her. she is a fireball. she curses some and gets mad at me when i call her "mam" even though it is hard for me to stop. we always laugh about that. she said of her neighbors and the rumors, "to he** with them, they never did anything for me anyway." we had a great lesson and we covered about half of what we wanted to because she is full of stories.

we also have started teaching lana the gospel in addition to english. we taught her how to schedule appointments on the phone last night and we brought a russian translator for our first gospel lesson on sunday. she is way smarter than we are. she is figuring out english really quickly. i dont know how she survives without knowing how to communicate to anyone.

we also have picked up some other people to teach. we tried to heal the rift between missionares and the rest of the ward council. we hope it gets better, we tried to take some pressure off of them this week and invited our stake councilor to train them instead of asking why they didnt do anything again. we are optomistic about things here. we have some good potentials and brand new investigators that we are working with again.

hope you have a good week!

Candice:

sometimes you have to go through tough times in missionary work, that is for sure. Elder Miller and i have good times even when we are finding all day. our ward has great people, they just have too much fear about missionary work and are too busy doing things that are 'good' but not 'best.' we just need to help focus them some more and i am sure that we can turn things around.

dani:

its way cool that you know Elder Miller's mom. shouldnt be too difficult to stay in contact since you are already good friends. we are having good times and really enjoy being comps. we can have some kind of get together one of these days. have a great week.

btw Sister Warner sent me a note and i cant really reply because that is against email rules but tell her that Elder Miller is a stud and that he is a super hard worker.

grandma:

that is some great news about grandpa and grandpa and grandma Cook. i hope that everything goes well with all of that. we know that the work will pick up here in the Lord's time.

love ya tons.

Love your favorite missionary,

Elder Taylor Barron

So happy to hear that things are going better again. Skip sounds like a really fun person. Would be great if she could join the church.

Do you remember that Andy went to Ukraine on his mission and knows Russian? Maybe he has some stories that the Russian lady would like to hear. I'll mention it to him. He may have some ideas for you.

We are all doing well. Grandpa Ron is doing better slowly and surely. He had a headache the other night but only one for two weeks is not bad.

Our ward has 4 couples (one is a mission pres) and 12 Elders and 1 Sister on missions now--pretty great! I do the ward newsletter and I enjoy getting their stories and sharing them with the ward. They all sound like really good missionaries. Our Bishop's son, Elder Garlick, is the one in the Dallas mission that your mom has met. He will get home just before you do. It's wonderful to think of all of you "on fire" missionaries doing the Lord's work.

Well, I hope things continue to look up. We pray every day for your success and love you dearly!
Love, Grandma Sue
