30...Jericho Warrior, again!

Hey mom,

the weather here is pretty crazy as well. not really. i kinda miss texas sometimes in some ways because some members like to make fun of texas and i like to be proud of my texas roots.

i got you another cd at the cvs and i am going to send that out to you today.

thats exciting all the missionary opportunities that you are having. as a missionary from what i hear you are making the ward. missionaries just hope that there will be some members who arent afraid to make friends.

thats AWESOME about the tornado except i guess also kind of not in that it destroyed stuff. i guess i just missed that one. oh well.

i am saving all the newsletters mom so dont worry about it. the next two will finally have my name in them.

so yes we had an awesome week again. jericho's warriors and everything. paige's baptism is all planned out and they are inviting non members to attend and we have it all down to which mormon family ads we want to play. so we are excited. it was kind of funny planning for this baptism. our ward mission leader had never planned one and i had never planned one and the bishop hadnt done it in 18 months and didnt know anything so our all star fellowshipper, sis lovell (we have paige's lessons at the lovells) planned it out mostly. paige could not be more excited. she is pulling for all she's worth to get her mom and her 9 year old sister to take the lessons. its prolly a bit annoying to her mom but her sister might do it. she sat in on our lesson yesterday and wanted to stay after to read from the Book of Mormon with sis lovell.

so saturday might be the best day of my mission ever because in addition to paige's baptism Elder Bednar is down to change a stake presidency and that morning wants to speak to the mission for a couple hours that morning. we are stoked to say the least.

i got to see Elder Haupt and his comp and bro chocco at the temple this morning. bro chocco knows everything about everything and he taught us a ton of stuff in the celestial room. i was really happy to see Elder haupt too. hes such a good guy.

chris er*** is chugging right along too. bro richardson another ward all-star invited him without us asking to dinner tonight since he had us tonight. we are going to ask chris who he wants to baptize him and who he wants to speak and everything. it is still going to take place the following saturday.

you have no idea how happy we are about how things are going. did i say anything about henry who works at the home for seniors? we taught him the plan of salvation yesterday. when we were scheduling the lesson last week i was impressed strongly that i should tell him that we were teaching the plan of salvation instead of a more in depth restoration like i wanted to. it went so well. he said that being with the seniors full time he wonders often about what happens and he agreed with everything we taught and he says that he agrees with everything that he has read in the Book of Mormon so far. he was in tears most of the lesson but he kept wiping away so that we would not see. tommorow i am going to try to set a date with him. his only problem is that it will be difficult to get him to church with working on sundays.

our district leader is going to give us the mother of a recent convert in the singles ward who basically wants to join already so that is exciting too.

it seems like we are way more blessed than we deserve given that last year this ward had a total of 3 investigators the whole year. we have 10 and soon to be closer to 15 with some referrals we will contact this week just right now. cant really express to you how happy we are.

we have in this ward started taking out the priests with us often. they are so awesome it feels great to be on the other side of doing splits and we try to throw them under a bus every now and then asking them for a testimony about things. its always funny to see them get wide eyed and then to see them equal to the task under pressure.

hope you guys are having a good week!

Rochelle BJ Gabe:

its really true that the temple has alot of power. even people who go to stuff like open houses out of curiosity often say funny things about how they were attracted to the building. it really is what it claims to be: the Lord's House.

Adams:

every now and then i write something down in my journal and then write something like: and this is why when you are off the mission you will know____. sometimes i just hope that i can hang on to some things. i think i have learned alot from seeing different families that i can relate to what i want to keep and what i dont want. it is obvious to me that certain families that do all the little things to the tee are the ones with a feel of love to thier homes. we just have to do the family prayers, scripture study, and FHE's.

Candice:

there is more missionary work in every missionary calling than most people realize. there are deffinate measurable results from those who consider whatever calling they have to be a missionary opportunity. im excited about the new house and the new baby.

Grandma:

hope you guys are having fun in texas. tell everybody at the reunion that i say hi. i try hard to keep my attitude positive. i think its a missionary tool in itself. i love it when nonmembers are surprised when we tell them that we are having the time of our lives out here doing missionary work 24/7. i know that if all they wanted to do was to talk to us as people they still learn something in that members of the church are happy.

Grandpa:

i know that angels are around us. i see it every day. some people are just prepared for us. i too am really proud of how Mom is doing back home. i bet that was exciting to see the tornado. you guys are either really lucky or the other way around because i never saw one when i lived in texas.

Love your favorite missionary,

Elder Taylor Barron

Wow--you guys are really on fire! Wonderful!! I'm still here in Texas. Grandpa flew home last night. We had a great Mexican lunch before taking him to the airport. Did he tell you that he has been called as a ward missionary? Our ward just had a baptism last week and I typed the program for them. I have a feeling that may happen again with Grandpa so involved! Anyway, it will be fun to see what can happen in Orem, Utah.

Your mom is at work right now. We are going to do some shopping when she gets home in a half hour or so. We are also going to complete the Texas registration on the car we brought to her.

We will leave for the reunion on Friday morning. One thing we will also do at the reunion is celebrate Grandpa Bill and Grandma Bert's 65th anniversary! Isn't that an amazing thing? You might want to send them a note. The date is actually July 30th but we will celebrate now since we are with them. Not too many people reach that landmark--a very small percentage.

Not much else to tell right now. I'm just loving spending time with your mom even when we are doing nothing :-). Just wanted to say how proud I am of you for making Jericho Warriors again and for working so hard and having such a great attitude! We all love you and wish you continued success! Love, Grandma Sue
