Hey Mom and Em,
Transfers calls came this week and i am still in Foothill for prolly six more weeks.
sis gardner loved getting to talk to you too. she called me yesterday morning to tell me about it. (kim gardner had taken tay and his companion to get their hair cut and then told them that she would call home... and added, what did message did tay have for me? he said, '3 words: i love her and 4 words, tell sean to write. well, sis gardner went home and guess what she found in her mail? a letter from sean. we're all so glad!)
im excited about katy! (the young woman in my sunday school class is getting baptized tomorrow night- and yes, her elders were transferred out lst week) did the elders get transferred before the baptism? that would be super lame.
so the leaver's of course are super nice. i found out a couple days ago that they took us on just a week's notice from the bishop. you would think it would be more, right? im not really sure what breed the dog is. he is super well behaved, maybe the best ive seen. he likes me now because i like to play with him. the leavers offer us everything in the house. the other day i put my shirts in the dryer and when i came down to get them i found them hung up and ironed by sis leaver. they are really fun to talk to as well. bro leaver is a csi guy, handwriting specialist so seeing his equipment and work and stuff is really interesting.
Conference was so amazing. i took 13 pages of notes in my little handwriting. (for whatever reason my writing is tiny now.) Our district watched it in the Stake Center. it was kind of like a little holiday for us because we didnt have the miles to go back to our area after every session so we just took it easy. nobody here goes to church to watch Conference so it was just the missionaries in our district which i have become really good friends with. it was really nice. Of course when Elder L Tom Perry was finished speaking all the missionaries gave a big Amen! some of the wards really need a refocus on missionary work around here. our ward is prolly the best in the stake for missionary work (and everything) so we were happy about his remarks for some of the other wards who do not like missionary work. so many good talks. even when they didnt apply much to missionary life they were uplifting. i loved E Holland's talk as well but if i had to pick a talk besides his i would pick Elder Richard G Scott's talk. i dont always remember what people say (because we are in so many conversations out here) but i often remember how i felt. his was so touching to me about his wife being gone and how the temple is so important. it kind of went along with what this ward member in our area was telling us the other night when he had us over for dinner. remember in the call packet and in PMG how it asks us to bring some family history stories? that initiative actually got started here. he helped me realize the importance of redeeming the dead. i really want to go to the temple alot when i come home. it seemed like there was alot of emphasis on the temple and family this Conference.
Anyways, work here is still a little slow. but dont worry about me. i take mosiah 2:17 to heart. i know its not me that people reject.
didnt meet much with megan or larry. dont think larry watched conference. sis gardner told me that megan said she tivo'd it and plans to watch it all. i forget which talks they were but there were some that seemed just for her. you talked about talks just for you but i got to see the talks directed at lots of people.
our finding efforts have gone really well lately. we went tracting right after sunday afternoon session and found 3 or 4 really good potentials. we are about to start lessons with new investigators so we will have a new wave of people to talk about soon. most of what we have been doing lately is finding.
oh, so cool story about that lady we met at Ralph's (grocery store) the other day. remember she said that it was an answer to her prayers that she met us and she asked for a blessing? we were able to on Friday. it was so powerfull. E Haupt was the voice. she now wants to be put back on the ward list and get a visiting teacher. we might get to teach her kids and baptize them. well future missionaries might, ill prolly be gone before that starts.
have a real good week.
Love your favorite missionary,
Elder Taylor Barron

I'm so glad you're staying with such nice people. I loved conference last week too. What great talks.
We love hearing about the work you are doing. I'm glad that even though the work seems slow at the moment, you are just trying so hard to do your best and keep it upbeat. We pray for you and your investigators every day and are proud of you!
About the handwriting: perhaps it's efficiency, perhaps you are trying to trick your new landlord? Hmmmm....
Conference was amazing. On my mission, I could always count on Elder Ballard to give a rousing talk about missionary work. His was focused differently this time. Elder Scott has the most tender heart. Reminds me of a certain Elder I know in Ca.
Glad you are staying positive. Missionary life has ups and downs to be sure. Just like Elder Scott said, ask what you need to learn from whatever you are facing. It helps.
We all just so love you!
Elder Barron, I've been thinking a lot this week about something that Elder Bednar talked to us about this past Monday. Speaking of conference he said I want to ask you three questions. 1. What did you hear? (Not necessarily what was said.) 2. What did you learn? and 3. What are you going to do about it?
As you are looking at your copious notes from conference, and as you go about your work everyday, think about that and what you heard and learned during those sessions. It was one of the most wonderful conferences that I can remember.
The Lord loves you. I love you and, as I've said before, I'm very proud of you. And I love that tender heart of yours. Don't you ever do anything to loose it. It is one of those pearls in your life.
Thanks so much for the notes to me and Grandpa. We loved hearing from you! Glad you were in such a good situation to view conference. We are so blessed to have each session come to our home.
We are getting ready on Wednesday to go down to Phoenix again to visit my Mom and Dad. We try to get down there every 3 months or so. They haven't had any visitors since we were there in November. Pretty lonely for them. Dani and Kirk and family are going along with us and I'm sure we'll all have a good time together.
We always hope that our conversations and our lifestyle will influence my parents into wanting to know more about the Church for themselves. They would be so happy if they would embrace the Gospel.
I enjoy hearing about your contacts and how they are doing. I am surprised at how many you have and that there are always new ones. It sounds like you are working very hard.
It's difficult to believe that you have been out there nearly six months. Does it seem like it's going fast for you?
Well, Elder, take care of yourself! I'm happy to know that you have a sweet couple helping you. I think it would be fun to have missionaries living with us! I'm not sure what they do here. Until next time--we love you and miss you and pray for you.
Love, Grandma Sue
