94 carlsbad adventrues!

Hey Mom,

pretty crazy week. Elder Hart has really started to buckle down and get after it and good things are starting to happen.

im not actually that cold, its just that it is weird to feel any at all in the California summer. quite a contrast from santa margarita like i said before.

thanks for the package! that should do it for the remaining time. i have been sharing treats at night after planning on my exchanges. that is my opportunity to really make friends and gain trust so that i can help the missionaries. sister missionaries have been kind of a pain so far. they got permission to not have to go tracting for reasons that i think are bogus and they keep fighting with thier ward council. not all sisters do that but these do... one of them calls me every night and tries to talk forever. but i think i can get them whipped into shape if they dont resist too much. with Elders that struggle you can be more hands on to fix things but sisters are in some ways out on thier own island.

im glad that the dance went well. keep up the good work. i pray for you all and that things go well for you.

for reasons that i cant share i lost all of wednesday and thursday to babysitting a missionary. didnt get to do any work at all and we had zone conference on friday. so i have basically had a half week.

selena is still doing well. she has shaped up and started to keep commitments and has been more solid in her study and working towards her date.

did i tell you about how Ed is a little slow? we went over last time and his mom was there and she told him that he was being too nice to let us in but that he was an adult and could make his own decisions. Ed basically gave into her pressure at the time and told us that he wanted to go be with his mom but when we see him again we will have permission from his family to baptize him. he is a funny guy and always has spiritual experiences even when he can only read a verse at a time.

we picked up some new people to teach. we are teaching sister Robinson in a part member family situation. in the first appointment she pulled this whole thing about being pressured in the past and not feeling the Spirit and not wanting to commit to a religion. fortunately the Spirit did move quickly and we were able to help her take a complete 180. as soon as we started teaching the Spirit was super powerful in the room so we took a moment to recognize His presence with her. she said that she didnt notice anything but through a series of guided questions we found that she didnt recognize His presence readily through the words we used to describe His influence so she got thrown off. she recognizes an enlightening experience rather than the peace and warm feelings that most people have. then we read a verse in Alma 32 that described the Spirit exactly as she had said. i was glad i studied because at the end of the lesson she felt like she had recognized the Spirit and that she needed to pray until she knew whether what we had taught was either true or not true. i am excited to follow up tonight.

we also started to teach another part member family named the Howard's. bro Howard is jewish so it will be an interesting experience as we continue to teach. it is kind of similar to when i have taught buddhists or atheists, because in our first lesson all we could do was teach about the Godhead and prayer.

a couple nights ago we tracted into another part member family that was not on Church records. it was really cool because (and this was funny to hear for me too) the member husband told us that he hadnt been praying but if he did he would have prayed for us to meet him because his family needs the Church badly right now. hopefully we can teach them soon!

all things are good.

Love,

Elder Barron
