Hey Mom
thats too bad about that swine flu business. we got some special letter from the mission office telling us how we can avoid it. ill pray for you guys to get over that. (i sent him a quick note back, telling him that i did not say that we had it, only that we were home because of it...ugh!)
so yeah six months is kind of overwhelming. im kind of surprised that it came so fast. but i guess on the other hand i probably have grown way more than i ever have in six months before. one example-- me and E Haupt played Book of Mormon golf this morning. BoM golf is where you flip through the pages when one Elder says swing and then when he says stop you read the first chapter heading that you see. then the other one tries to guess which chapter it is based on that brief summary. we played 18 holes and we each got about 10 hole in ones. i thought to myself what i myself two years ago would have thought about us being so good at the game.
thats pretty cool that Elder Fluckinger suggested looking at it that way. (Elder Fluckinger said that we should take our Patriarchal Blessings and divide them into three categories: Blessings/Personal Commandments/Warnings) i often read the scriptures the same way when i am studying by topic. i actually usually think about my blessing that way. so that is interesting. some blessings are actually pretty scary if you think about it. i think God expects us to seek them out and if you take the blessing passively you might miss something. at least thats what i worry about.
when it rains out here its kind of funny. it just kind of sprinkles and people wont go outside. the other day it was 90 and i could not believe it was 80. the weather is so mild i worry about facing texas again.
so yeah im pretty nervous about transfers. i dont really want to because i like the area and E Haupt.
oh, about the license and whatever. if you can get it reduced then great but if not then just pay it because there is really nothing we can do. we all know how crazy texas can be about those kind of things. no mercy. i dont really want to talk about it too much sunday tho. kind of a waste of time just email me when you know what i have to pay and whatever. (can you believe that the state of texas has a surcharge fine attached to tay's license that he is required to pay: $260. for three years in a row? i'm trying to get it waivered. it's tied into his not having his proof of insurance with him when he was pulled over, even tho at the time he was covered)
This week was an exciting one. for some reason almost all of our teaching appointments are on thursdays. i dont know why but i'll just tell you about our thursday. we had 2 teaching appointments at 10 on thurs so i taught megan and E Haupt taught another guy the Restoration lesson. anyways my lesson was one of those where i dont really know where what i said came from except through the Holy Ghost. i spent like 2 hours getting ready for megan because she is really smart and it can be difficult and then when i got there i just came up with answers to questions that i have tried to have a good answer for since i got here. like: where is God's hand in helping those who are suffering in places like africa? and what is the differance between just living a good life and having a belief in Christ? it was pretty cool. after the lesson she finally commited to come to church. and she did come this week. we will see her tonight to see how she enjoyed it but from what i saw the lesson was just for her in gospel essentials. one of her kids was a huge distraction tho. but i am pretty optomistic about it.
we also have a new exciting investigator named lori e*. we taught her first lesson on thurs too. it went really well and she looks like she will be an exciting prospect.
Larry G was at church and we have started reading BOM stories with him as his lessons because he seems to like that. we also taught larry b* on thurs. our fellowshipper went to see him speak at community of Christ church on sun so we have a promise from him that he will go to our church soon.
laregus is being a pile again. dont really get him. but yeah, business is boomin in Foothill town.
Love your favorite missionary,
Elder Taylor Barron

Hey Elder,
I just wanted to let you know that my kids LOVED getting your letters. They read them over and over! We pray for you and think of you often.
It sounds like you are keeping busy, which is good. I like the sound of that Book of Mormon game. Maybe I'll think of a way to simplify it to play with my kids. Or maybe I'll challenge the kids in my Sunday School class with it too. They'll love me for it! :-)
I'm sure that your mom is getting super excited for your phone call on Sunday. I can't wait to hear about it too!
The weather is finally starting to feel like Spring here which is nice, but when I hear you talk about your weather, it makes me want to go there! I love California weather!
We are keeping super busy here. May is a busy month with lots of end of school year stuff going on. It's lots of fun, but I am looking forward to summer vacation.
Well, good luck with your upcoming transfer. You are awesome and will be great wherever you are and with who ever you are serving with! Love you!
Dani
Teaching with the power of the Holy Ghost has to be one of the most fulfilling experiences we can have. Thanks for sharing that with us.
I hope you had a great conversation with your Mom. I guess you already know, but you are blessed with a wonderful mother and you are surrounded by some of the best women in the world. It is one of the greatest of Heavenly Father's blessings.
FYI: be careful. The next six months will likely pass by faster than the first six.
We'll be anxious to hear what the coming week brings to you.
We love you. W're very proud of you. Onward and Upward.
It really does sound like you've grown immensely. Book of Mormon Golf sounds like a cool game. I wonder if is is a game that missionaries made up, or if it originated in seminary or something? Anyway, that's cool. We'll be anxious to hear about what happens with transfers. Either way, I'm sure everything will work out. Change has a way of making us grow and stretch, and become better, although it is really hard sometimes. Anyway, keep up your good work, we love you!
